THE IRONMOB PRogram
Redefining what is possible for First Nations people “Up The Mob”
The IRONMOB program is 14-18 month health, wellbeing and change making program. The program empowers First Nations Australians to take on the the IRONMAN triathlon which is the hardest one day sporting event in the world.
An IRONMAN consists of a 3.8km swim, 180km bike ride and 42.195km run all which has to be done in under 17 hours. Before TriMob existed we only new of 13 First Nations people that have completed an IRONMAN triathlon. However through this program which provides coaching, mentoring, personal development, apparel, equipment, nutritional supplement support we are changing this.
Each year TriMob selects a group of First Nations women and men based all over Australia, with the goal of completing an IRONMAN triathlon. The program builds their physical and mental capacity to take on this life changing challenge. The program creates a team environment in what is usually an individual sport and provides a culturally empowering community to support our athletes to succeed.
The program is structured to safely develop each athlete so that the routines they develop become apart of their lifestyle and creates continuous positive lifestyle changes post their involvement in the program. Throughout the program the IRONMOB athletes participate in team & community development camps based around events that gradually increase their capacity and capability to take on their IRONMAN event. but also to build them . Throughout the program the IRONMOB athletes come together to participate in the IRONMOB development camps, where they take on triathlon events
Through the IRONMOB athletes being empowered and completing the program they are redefining what is possible and inspiring more First Nations people to participate in triathlons (swimming, biking and running) and create healthier individuals and communities.
